What do
you mean when you say you are feeling sad? What, by all means, is
the real meaning of sadness? It is a blessing, or a damned
sillyness? Why don’t you say instead, I am felling gloomy or blue?
It’s not a matter of definition, it is a matter of questioning
yourself about what your sentiments are. That’s all, and nothing more.

Why do you say you feel sad all the times you see the beautiful
face of the woman you once loved so much? Is it because you remember
her when she was young and beautiful, and now, she is old and ugly?
Did you love her too much, so much that you’ll forget her? Do you feel
pity for you, for her, for the forgotten love? Do her forgotten
kisses, still haunt you, all night into dawn?

You haven’t sleep any more since you saw her last time. Maybe she is
dead, and you don’t know it. You only know she disappeared one night
so completely that she never was seen again, dead or alive. Did she
leave you for another man and that is the reason for your sadness?
Because she left you, don’t you sleep any more? Do not be sad. Be
happy, instead, it is more agreeable, does not hurt, does not cost even
a penny. Love, maybe you can if you try hard enough, another woman,
an old flame? Do not smile, this is a serious matter.

Well, what happened, ask the Raven. He answered by himself: from
here, he is quite happy. Well, that’s all, folks . We will see you again,
all of you, at the National Assembly. That will make someone happy,
others sad. Me? Does not matter, For me, being sad and happy – it’s the
same thing. Pardon me, my cellphone is ringing. Oh, it’s the President!
Quel honneur! But, I will not answer. I know what it is all about,
he wants me to be his personal assistant. But I do not want it, and I
will not be! Maybe you, dear listener? But there is no reply. Why?
Internet, as usual, is gone, until tomorrow night. Then, it will not
matter who is the Personal Assistant. The government will be overthrown
by then and a new dictatorship will be in place. Good riddance, to
you all my friends. I shall send greetings from Canada, every
Christmas‘s Day and New Year, too. You shall send, if the weather be
good, a CD containing Venezuela’s villancicos. Like the most played
one, The Cabra Mocha! Happy seasons, to you, all my friends , from
before, now and forever. I will come back when Liberty be restored in
my country. Maybe, by the year 3000?

Or…. Internet is gone again. What a pity, my friends. We must be
accustomed to it, by now and by God, we will not be.

Can you tell me, my young and old friend, what is sadness?
